A Debt Older Than Memory
Before the engine, before the first city, there was the horse. For thousands of years they carried our soldiers, broke our ground, pulled our ploughs and carriages. Much of what we built rests on their backs. They asked little in return.
Today, many face neglect and abandonment. Without obvious utility, value is too easily forgotten. Horses are surrendered when finances tighten, overworked, underfed, or left without shelter.
To care for them is to honour a relationship older than recorded history. We owe the horse a debt that no ledger could contain.
